I write all kinds of internal and external business communications, as well as blog posts and website copy.
I specialize in trimming word count and using plain language to make your message understood.
I draw on 15+ years of teaching experience to help others be better writers and editors of their own work.
I have worked with Nancy in her role as an employee of the Minnesota State Bar Association and more recently as a freelance lawyer. I recommend her without reservation. She is professional, personable, diligent, and smart. Feel free to contact me if you are considering hiring her for a freelance project or professional employment position.
Nancy was able to learn our project needs quickly and synthesize down a number of documents for us. Her best asset is her ability to take lengthy, wordy documents and boil them down in simple, easy to read paragraphs. She is really great at taking a concept and giving you a simple way to describe it or an easy way to read. Furthermore, I appreciated her honest input and straightforward feedback.
Nancy has been a wonderful freelancer for Celarity. She has worked with some of our most respected clients, in a variety of industries, and has always exceeded expectations. I have had the pleasure working with Nancy Hupp in various capacities over the past decade. Most recently, Nancy was my colleague at the Minnesota Bar Association where she directed practicelaw.org. Her organizational and writing skills are superb and they kept the website and its resources current and relevant.
Nancy Hupp has the gift of writing about complex subjects with great clarity, as well as writing about simple subjects and making them memorable. Nancy writes in a strong and winning ‘voice’. That voice, combined with her excellent technical skills, makes her work, and will make your project, both distinctive and a pleasure to read.
Nancy is a wonderful writer—she writes precisely with a sense of humor and joy. She has the natural instincts of a great story-teller, and she brings that talent to all of her writing.
As a writer and editor myself, I know the value of a second pair of eyes. I’ve hired Nancy to improve my articles, blog posts and CLE materials. Nancy consistently delivers a great edit that catches mistakes, asks great questions and adds creative ideas — helping me to elevate my game. She’s fast, smart and great to work with, and I will definitely hire her again.
Nancy captured the essence of what we were trying to communicate. We wanted to streamline our message by keeping the critical information and eliminating what was unnecessary and repetitive. It’s hard to do that with your own work—someone on the outside can take a fresh view and Nancy did that.
I have had the pleasure of working with Nancy through two different associations. First with Entrepreneurial Advantage while working on Project CAP, and then later when I sub-contracted some work to her through my current position with Insurance Marketing Partners. I’ve found Nancy to be very professional and easy to work with. She has a good understanding of the insurance business and can write good copy. I have no reservations in recommending Nancy to others.
Nancy took long legal-sized forms and came up with a style guide to make them more readable. These were the MSBA Real Property Forms, the purchase agreement forms for residential real estate. Very dense and wordy, and full of styles that make it more difficult to read. I was chair of the committee, and Nancy met with us over several meetings to show us how the changes would enhance the look of the document. Never lost her patience with us slow learners!
